Snoring does effect social life especially the severe kind.Chronic scoring is linked with conditions such as poor muscle tone of the tongue and throat, obstructed nasal pathways, excessive bulkiness of the tonsils and adenoid tissues, etc. The occasional and mild snorers are treated through general lifestyle recommendations. The more severe kind requires a proper examination of the mouth, nose, palate, and neck. Treatments such as ‘laser assisted uvuloplasty’ have benefitted a majority of snorers.
There are several causes. It could be aging related degeneration of tissue/nerve, could be genetic, could be trauma or accident induced, middle ear infections, birth defects, and even medication side effects.
Sinusitis is a frequent and recurrent infection of the sinus drainage cavity. It happens when fluid builds up in the air-filled pockets in the face (sinuses). Viruses and certain bacteria too can cause sinus infections. Risk factors include a previous cold, seasonal allergies, smoking, passive smoking, structural problems within the sinuses, and a weak immune system.
